During her time at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), Andrea Grau was involved with several departments, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach to art and research. Among them, her participation in the Fiber and Material Studies Department was particularly significant, as it led her to develop an ongoing investigation into the material, conceptual, and cultural dimensions of fibers.
Her work from this period explores the tactile and symbolic potential of textile processes, connecting traditional techniques with contemporary artistic inquiry.
