Andrea Grau is a Peruvian multimedia artist based in Lima, Peru. Primarily focused on painting, her work delves into themes of identity, memory, chaos, pain, love, transformation, and resilience through abstraction and a gestural vocabulary derived from her internal visions, often revealing a calligraphic character. Grau’s work is an intuitive and performative process that necessitates and suggests the presence of her body engaging with the whole piece through movement and gestures. Her work is influenced by forms and colors found in the nature and landscapes that surround her, and lead her to reflect on her personal relationship to these.

Holding a BFA in Studio from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Andrea was recipient of a Presidential Merit scholarship and was part of both the Painting Department and the Fiber and Material Studies Department. She has previously exhibited her work at SAIC Galleries in Chicago, ALA Projects in New York and Ginsberg + Tzu in Lima, Peru.
